Formulas

Seven formulas, one key.

Tables spill as dynamic arrays with a header row.

=TP.PRICE(symbol)

Latest end-of-day close for a US equity from the TradePolaris DB.

=TP.PRICE("AAPL")

=TP.HIST(symbol, [start], [end], [columns])

Daily OHLCV history as a table with a header row, newest 5,000 rows when no start is given.

=TP.HIST("AAPL","2024-01-01","2024-12-31","date,close")

=TP.FUND(symbol, field, [period])

One fundamentals value for the newest filing period in the TradePolaris DB.

=TP.FUND("AAPL","revenues")

=TP.DIVIDENDS(symbol, [start])

Cash dividend history for a US equity with a header row.

=TP.DIVIDENDS("MSFT","2020-01-01")

=TP.SPLITS(symbol)

Stock split history for a US equity with a header row.

=TP.SPLITS("NVDA")

=TP.DATASET(name, [start], [end], [symbol], [columns], [limit])

Rows from any TradePolaris DB dataset your key can see, with a header row.

=TP.DATASET("us-equities-eod",,,"AAPL","date,close",250)
Arguments and notes for each formula

Optional arguments are in brackets. Dates can be a date cell or text like 2024-01-31, and tickers are US equities like AAPL or BRK.B.

  • =TP.PRICE End-of-day only. The Data API key surface carries daily bars, not quotes.
  • =TP.HIST Rows above 5,000 are cut and a #TRUNCATED row says how many matched.
  • =TP.FUND Concept names are the fundamentals lane's own; the error message lists them.
  • =TP.DIVIDENDS Columns are ticker, ex_dividend_date and cash_amount.
  • =TP.SPLITS Columns are ticker, execution_date, split_from and split_to.
  • =TP.DATASET Newest rows first when no start is given, oldest first otherwise.
  • =TP.SEARCH Up to 50 matches; a #TRUNCATED row means more exist, so narrow the query.
Install

Set up in four steps.

Built for Excel for Microsoft 365 on Windows.

  1. Download the manifest

One XML file, from the button at the top of this page.

  2. Upload it to Excel

Home, Add-ins, More Add-ins, then Upload My Add-in.

  3. Save your key

Open TradePolaris on the Home ribbon, paste your key and test the connection.

  4. Type a formula

Try =TP.PRICE("AAPL"). The first call takes a few seconds.

  • Data API access: Aegis, Closed Beta or a grant
  • A key with no source-IP restriction
  • Access to tradepolaris.com and appsforoffice.microsoft.com
Deploy across a team

Shared folder. Put the manifest on a network share. On each PC open File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, Trusted Add-in Catalogs, add the share's UNC path and tick Show in Menu. Replace the file to update everyone.

Microsoft 365 admin center. Under Settings, Integrated apps, Upload custom apps, choose Office Add-in and give the manifest URL https://tradepolaris.com/excel/manifest.xml. Each user still saves their own key.

Excel on the web and Mac

Both support the add-in's runtime, but we only test on Windows, so treat them as best effort. On the web, Upload My Add-in is in the same dialog. On a Mac, copy the manifest into ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef.

Remove the add-in

A sideloaded add-in belongs to the Windows account that uploaded it. Delete it under My Add-ins, and clear the Office cache if it still appears.

Your key

Your key stays with you.

Revoke it anytime in the Data API console.

  1. ExcelKey kept in the add-in's storage on your computer
  2. tradepolaris.com relayHTTPS, forwards your key and nothing else
  3. TradePolaris DBAnswers within your plan's limits
The relay sends no cookie, session or IP address, and uses no third party. Sign out in the add-in to remove the key. Read the Data API contract.
Good to know

Limits, and what errors mean.

End of day only

Daily bars, filings and corporate actions, never quotes.

5,000 rows a call

Longer tables end with a #TRUNCATED row, so narrow the dates.

120 requests a minute

A busy sheet shows #N/A with a retry time.

Dates arrive as text

YYYY-MM-DD. Wrap them in DATEVALUE for Excel dates.

Two kinds of error

#N/A for access or connection, #VALUE! for a bad argument.

Fundamentals by concept

An unknown concept name lists the ones available.
